Passionalism: Showcasing The Davaoeño Barong Tagalog

From June 5-12, SM Lanang Premier put on display Davao-made Barongs by Architect Michael E. Dakudao in celebration of Philippine Barong Tagalog Week. Dubbed as Passionalism: An Exhibit of the Barong Davaoeño, the exhibit at the mall’s Atrium features Arch. Dakudao’s elegant collection of the Philippine national attire for men, the Barong Tagalog. It aims to rekindle the love for the Philippines and encourage appreciation for our very own national costume. Architect Dakudao  has been featured in many publications for his admirable passion for collecting Barong Tagalog, especially those made from sinamay and piña, decorated with handsewn embroidery. He received his Doctorate degree in Architecture from Tokyo University, and he has been adding pieces to his collection as an influence from his Japanese professor who inspired him to appreciate the national costume more while studying at Tokyo University. LEGO Philippine Map Exhibit in SM Lanang Premier

SM Lanang Premier in Davao City  has launched the first and biggest ever LEGO Philippine-themed exhibit in Mindanao  on Monday, June 3, as part of its Independence Day celebrations.It will be open to the public for viewing until the 30th of June. In partnership with LEGO, the world’s leading maker of toy bricks, ands Toy Kingdom, SM Lanang Premier brought the LEGO Philippine map exhibit to promote love of country and national pride among Filipinos. The exhibit was dubbed as ” Its More Fun in the Philippines with LEGO” which adapted the Department of Tourism’s slogan , with the toy building bricks pieced together to re-create the country’s 7,107 islands. The Big C is so dreaded, and it’s very apparent that no one wants to put himself to the ‘dead end’ and be diagnosed with it.  Everytime I see someone, either a relative, friend, acquaintance or even a stranger suffering with cancer, the thought about life being so short and that it can easily be taken away from us at a snap of a finger bothers me. My heart goes out to them who have suffered and died from this dreaded disease, but sometimes it leaves me helpless as well, knowing that at most times, cancers are incurable. It brings the fear that I ,too or any of my family members might have it. I am afraid but admittedly, I feel I haven’t really taken a concrete action to prevent it and know more about it as well.
