The Philippine Madrigal Singers Seranades Davao As They Go For Gold

I had a rare opportunity to sit at the front row to watch The Philippine Madrigal Singers live last March 6 at SM Lanang Premier here in Davao City. They were here as part of their Goin’ For Gold Outreach Tour in line with their 50th Anniversary. Back then, I could only hear and watch in the news that they have been doing stellar shows here and abroad, bringing accolades for the country. Watching them perform live is indeed a different story. Midtown Printing Press: Printing Its Way With The Times

As far as I can remember, when I was active with the school paper and yearbook club back in high school in the late 80s and 90s, Midtown Printing Press was already there. Today, after 45 years in the printing business, it has gotten stronger and bolder to face the challenges of the times. Being in the forefront of printing premium quality yearbooks for countless schools and universities not just in the Davao region but all through out the country, it has set a standard on  how printing should be done. The management of Midtown never stopped pursuing for excellence,  they have an admirable thrust of always perfecting their craft in the light of technological […]

JCI Philippines’ Liter of Light Project

Filipinos are well-known  for their creativity and ingenuity. Tough times bring out resourcefulness to create useful things we never thought would be possible. I was simply amazed and genuinely proud (knowing that this was a brainchild of a kababayan) when I saw a feature of this on TV : a portion of an empty PET liter bottle filled with a mixture of chlorine/salt/filtered water, and installed by a scrap GI sheet, rubber sealant and rivets would brighten peoples’ homes at maximum cost of P5o each per Solar Liter bulb. For people living below the poverty line, the improvised Solar Liter Bottles provide great impact to their lifestyle. This would mean so much for those who cannot afford to buy conventional bulbs and fluorescent lights that needed to be replaced on a regular basis. For what used to be dark kitchen, dining or living rooms, will now radiate with  hopeful  “liters” […]
