After 15 Years and 10 Stores: Blugre Coffee Goes Global

Brewing in Davao since 1998

1998 was a memorable year for me. It was the start of my life as a young mom when I gave birth to my eldest child August of this year. Well, I am not going to talk about motherhood in this post, but just the fact that while I was busy building a home and starting a family, I realized that this homegrown coffee shop has been a part of it as well.

Blugre Coffee was also born in 1998. It came when coffee shops weren’t the “in” thing yet. In fact, I can say that it paved the way for the other coffee shops to open in Davao City. They have specially become a hit too since they introduced a locally concocted blend, the Durian-flavored cappuccino.

Back then, while the city was still building itself economically, I would always delight at the thought of new restaurants and shops coming out here (You can just count with both hands the number of great hang out places to go to). And Blugre would most often be the meeting place for my barkada (circle of friends) when we catch up with each other’s lives.

But that was before.

After 15 strong years, and after opening their 10th branch in Davao City, Blugre has proudly announced its plans of penetrating the international market. They are eyeing to initially open their doors in the United States and Singapore soon, and will be serving the same popular coffee blends, pastries and a lot more.

As the Blugre management team headed by its President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Benjamin Cuaresma envisions their corporate goals, “Blugre shall become a lifestyle worldwide, not just in the Philippines”.

Now, we’d definitely drink to that.
