The Big C is so dreaded, and it’s very apparent that no one wants to put himself to the ‘dead end’ and be diagnosed with it.  Everytime I see someone, either a relative, friend, acquaintance or even a stranger suffering with cancer, the thought about life being so short and that it can easily be taken away from us at a snap of a finger bothers me. My heart goes out to them who have suffered and died from this dreaded disease, but sometimes it leaves me helpless as well, knowing that at most times, cancers are incurable. Davaoeños Shine in Metro Manila Basketball Camp of Alaxan FR

Gabriel Dagandon of Davao, chosen as one of the Top 10 players in the national competition As an update to my previous post, it is a great news to know that two young and aspiring cagers from Davao, Gabriel Dagandon and Miguel Plata shone from among 50 hopefuls after dazzling the judges during the Alaxan FR Galing Mo Camp held at the Unilab gymnasium in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila. Proudly occupying two out of the ten podium spots were Davao’s Gabriel Dagangon and Miguel Plata after the three-day camp culminated in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila.   Hard work paid off for the group, who each won a P100,000 infrastructure project for their respective barangays, on top of a P20,000 cash incentive (P25,000 for MVP Rhys Flores from Cagayan de Oro City). Former basketball superstar Alvin Patrimonio and Jerry Codinera have once again returned to Barangay Matina Crossing where a basketball court dubbed as the “Court of Inspiration” was built by local volunter last year. Together with Benjie Paras, Jojo Lastimosa, Ronnie Magsanoc and Johnny Abarientos, they have been going around the country to conduct basketball training camps. The program is part of Alaxan FR‘s nationwide campaign to promote a culture of hard work and dedication, where pain is seen as a badge of honor.
