In relation to the government’s thrust to improve transportation in urban centers across the country —Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP), Gazelle Motors Corporation (the automative business of Eastern Petroleum Corporation) launched the Azenso Program with the transport sector in Davao City.
With Azenso Program, transport drivers and operators will be given access to organization development and entrepreneurship capacity building seminars. This will help them manage better transport equipment with larger capacity as well as provide upgraded passenger experience in PUVs. The project is in partnership with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Transportation (DOTr), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) plus government financial institutions Land Bank of the Philippines and the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).
The PUVMP targets not only to replace the close to 200,000 units into modern and environment-friendly units but to also improve the living conditions and income of public transport operators and drivers.
In line with this, Gazelle Motors introduces its next generation PUV called NEXT CITILINE which can carry up to 31 passengers (23 sitting and eight standing passengers). It is equipped with comfortable passenger seats and handrails so passengers can move easily and safely within the interior.
The presence of improved PUVs is aimed to not only decongest roads but also give safer, cleaner and fuel-efficient transport system for Filipino commuters.
